Billy G. McCall
- Executive Director, 1990–1992
Mr. McCall dedicated 38 years to the Endowment, joining in 1954 as a Field Representative in the Hospital and Child Care Sections and rising to the position of Executive Director. Mr. McCall had a particular interest in medical ethics, and was a board member and advisory board Chairman of Bioethics Resource Group in Charlotte. Mr. McCall received an Honorary Fellowship from the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also received the Distinguished Service Award and the Merit Award from the South Carolina Hospital Association and the Meritorious Service Award from the North Carolina Hospital Association.
Major Endowment Milestones:
- Computerized the Endowment’s accounting and data systems
- Helped identify and quantify North Carolina’s uninsured and underinsured to create a statewide agenda for improvement
- Fostered new focus on cooperative programs between hospitals and their communities
