J. Kelly Sisk

Mr. Sisk, a Tennessee native, was publisher of the Greenville News and Greenville Piedmont newspapers, as well as chairman of the board of Multimedia Inc. He served as a Trustee of The Duke Endowment from 1971 until his death at age 67 in 1980. Mr. Sisk earned a business degree from the University of Alabama in 1934. He was an avid golfer and played in the first Heritage Golf Classic at Hilton Head Island in 1969. He prized a photograph of himself taken with golfer Jack Nicklaus. Mr. Sisk was a leading figure in South Carolina business and journalism. At his death, Multimedia owned 35 newspapers, five television stations, 13 radio stations and a number of cable stations. It had also moved into television production, including the Phil Donohue show.
