Judy Woodruff

Ms. Woodruff is an award-winning journalist who has covered politics for over three decades at NBC, PBS and CNN. During her 12 years at CNN, she anchored “Inside Politics.” She has covered eight presidential elections, the 1981 assassination attempt against President Ronald Reagan, and moderated debates between vice presidential and presidential candidates. She co-anchored CNN’s coverage of the September 11, 2011, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. She says, “I learned how important honesty and integrity are for journalists…and the first obligation of a reporter is to help the public understand the world around them.” Ms. Woodruff graduated from Duke University Woman’s College in 1968 with a degree in political science. She has served on the Endowment’s Board of Trustees since 2013 and is a Trustee Emerita of Duke University. She is a co-founding chair of the International Women’s Media Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging women in journalism and communication industries worldwide.
