
Lanty L. Smith
- Trustee, 2003–2007
Mr. Smith, an honors graduate of Wittenberg University in Ohio and of Duke University School of Law, served as a Trustee from 2003 to 2007. The Greensboro businessman served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-69. He was chairman of Precision Fabrics Group, The Greenwood Group and Soles Brower Smith & Company, as well as President and CEO of MediWave Star Technology. Mr. Smith served on the boards of The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Duke University School of Law, and the Research Triangle Foundation of N.C. He is a recipient of the Americanism Award from the Anti-Defamation League and the Greensboro Outstanding Community Service Award. Russell M. Robinson, Chairman of The Duke Endowment at the time of Mr. Smith’s election to the board, said of his background: “This remarkable combination of experience will be a marvelous asset to the Endowment, and we are excited to have him join us on the board.”
