Mr. DuMont, a resident of Long Island, New York, was hired by James B. Duke in 1924 when The Duke Endowment was formed. He served as Assistant Treasurer for 10 years before being named Treasurer in 1955. He was elected a Trustee in 1960 and was named to the Committee on Rural Churches. Mr. DuMont served as Treasurer and Trustee until his death on July 9, 1961 at the age of 59.
